Pakistan National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Dr. Naseem Ashraf in connection with misappropriation of the board's funds amounting to seven billion rupees.

According to NAB sources, Ashraf had misused about seven billion rupees during his tenure from 2003 to 2008 as the PCB chairman.

Sources said that a PCB official had submitted a complaint against the PCB's management to the Supreme Court alleging that a huge amount of money was embezzled.

They further revealed that the NAB would not take action against Ashraf if he returns the money, however, if he fails to do so the reference against him would be forwarded an accountability court.

According to reports, Ashraf, during his tenure, spent 65 million rupees on 33 playing grounds in country but the condition of these grounds still remains the same.

The consultants for improving the playing conditions at these grounds were hired for 7.14 million rupees, The Nation reports.

The office-bearers of the PCB who worked during Ashraf's tenure are also likely to be quizzed in the case, sources said. (ANI)
