India rebuffed on request for crown jewel

The British government has refused to consider returning the jewel in the British monarch's crown.
The British government has refused to consider returning the jewel in the British monarch's crown.

In an emphatic rebuff to India, Prime Minister David Cameron has said the 105-carat gemstone, known as the Kohinoor diamond, will stay firmly
    in the actual crown.

Ruling out the repatriation of the famed diamond, which was set in the coronation crown during the time of India's occupation, Cameron has told British TV: "I know there is a great argument about the original provenance of the Kohinoor diamond, but I am afraid to say it's going to stay put. What tends to happen with these questions is that if you say yes to one, then you would suddenly find the British Museum empty."

The Kohinoor diamond was originally taken from a mine in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

It was seized by the East India Company and became part of the jewel collection of Queen Victoria, when she was proclaimed Empress of India in 1877.

India has made regular requests for its return.

India told to forget the Kohinoor diamond

This is an auspicious diamond related to God Srikrishna. Keeping it in illegal custody would be a curse itself. Check the history, everybody who have won it illegally was cursed. Better return it to its original place.

If it’s krishna’s, let him get it back. As far as curse goes: British have gone from strength to strength, while india wallows in the antedeluvian mire as always. So curse not effective for our hindu cousins. Salaam.

Dacoits never return the loot unforced!

When have dacoits accepted to return the loot by themselves? And Britain happens to a nation where dacoits are in the majority. They need a good thrashing to make them return that diamond. But since our characterless govt is cozying up to Britain and USA,we may just have to forget about Britain returning the Kohinoor diamond to India.

This guy is telling the truth

If you say yes to one, you will not only see the British Museum empty, you will see the economy collapse to pay reparation to ages of exploitation and brutal suppression of its former colony in Africa, Asia and South America to rob them of their wealth. So the robbers have to insist on no reparation, for now.

Idiot. The majority of Britain are thiefs? Provide proof of your inane claim.

Hi read the hisoty correctly. Britain who rule the world once, is now just like any other country. It lost its place in the present world order after it took away the kohinoor or symanthaka diamnond. Is this enough proof that curse will work.

    Kohinoor

We need to put our flag on the British Shores to claim this land and then 'seize' the Kohinoor along with the other Crown Jewels back to their people. British are thieves FACT, they don’t like anyone 'stealing' their benefits but were quick enough to steal our jewels and then tell our parents to go home when they arrived to make a decent living! Take back what is rightfully ours.

    Kohinoor

The Kohinoor is a blood diamond so many people died because India was the Jewel in the Crown. I suggest all Indians, even British born, wear the Hindu symbol which resembles Swaztika to show we are no longer a push over. No fear of these people anymore we are no longer second class citizens with the amount of looting they did. What reason have they to detest us? None, so wake up Indians about time we started to be more aggressive and tough in our approach. Forget all this Mahatma Ghandi 'none violence' rubbish that was over 63 years ago india has changed and so has the world. Indians liven up and start learning to help each other heads held high. Other races can do it why not us?
