    Serena Williams stays on top of WTA rankings

    Australian Open champion Serena Williams stayed on top in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings published Monday.

    Williams tops the list with 9,195 points ahead of Russian Dinara Safina (6,480) and US Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark who improves a place to third (5,995).

    WTA top 10 as of February 8 (previous ranking in parenthesis):
